ALLISSON LEGGETT, ED.D.
University of Phoenix

Dr. Leggett serves the University of Riverside in the capacity of both faculty and administrator.  She brings a true diversity of knowledge and experience to the University of Riverside that is unparalleled. She began working in the Aerospace Industries in El Segundo, California when she was a high school student whose talents in math and science were identified by NASA scientists interested to training the next new Rocket scientists. The one-time summer opportunity translated to continuous employment as a laboratory technician in the Chemical and Physical laboratories where she worked her way through college. Graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles with a BS in Chemistry, the California native continued working in the Aerospace Industries for several years gaining experience and insight into NASA. Seeking an opportunity for advancement, she began graduate work in Chemical Engineering at California State University Long Beach when she was recruited to teach high school chemistry. She taught secondary school for several years, obtaining a Master of Arts in Education, with special emphasis in Technology, Psychology and Early Childhood Development. Seeking another opportunity for advancement, she began graduate work in Organic Chemistry at California State University Los Angeles then Doctoral work in Organic Chemistry at the University of Southern California preparing her for University teaching. She taught Chemistry at several colleges and universities, including California State University Los Angeles, Pasadena City College, and UCLA. When offered the opportunity for administrative work, she accepted a position in the Los Angeles Unified School District as a Science Expert, one of only 2 Chemistry experts in the district. To further validate her work, she obtained her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix graduating with honors. At the University of Phoenix, Dr. Leggett serves in the capacity of Online Faculty and Site Supervisor. Following her work as a Science Expert, Dr. Leggett sought more diverse application of her knowledge and obtained a Master of Science in Administration and accepted administrative positions as a high school Director of Instruction and high school Assistant Principal. Dr. Leggett is highly recognized for her expertise in business as well. She has been the Chief Financial Officer of a real estate brokerage and property management firm owned by herself and her husband for more than a decade. In 2000, the business received recognition by the state as the Small Businessman of the Year. In addition, she is sought by school districts for her expertise in science and by the California Department of Education for her experience and expertise in curriculum and instruction.
